In 1993 I began a Local Exchange Trading System in Wales called South Powys LETS that is still trading today. In 2003 I secured over a million pounds of European Regional Development funding to co-found the Wales Institute for Community Currencies that worked with community groups in the ex-mining areas of South Wales to set up community time banks as well as researching new applications of CCs. In 2007 I went freelance and launched Value for People, a consultancy and training practice promoting CC technology. I have just completed the first draft of a Community Currency Design Manual which is being trialled by groups in North America, UK, Germany and Austria and hope to publish it later this year.

John - just noticed that you are speaking at the Seattle conference next month which I was gong to attend. Unfortunately now having to cancel the trip due to lack of funds. Hope its a good event.
We are doing some work with Shann Turnball who is also speaking - he is coming back here to midWales this July when we are putting on another event similar to last year as part of the Robert Owen celebrations. You will get an invite soon no doubt, if John Waters hasn't already been in touch about this.
Have a good trip.
Hey John - fancy meeting you here. Well, not so surprising perhaps. I was introduced by Mr Waters from down the road.
And waking up to the news that JPMorgan has been forced to bail out its rival, the dollar is in meltdown and the markets are collapsing I think this site is probably a good place to be at the moment!
Do let me know if and when you plan on coming to Rome...

Hello John!
What do you think of using parts of your Community Currency Design Manual as an input for the Mexico event http://openmoney.ning.com/mexico ?
I think it would be a great opportunity to test it.
Greetings
Georg
