More about me
My interest in money has been stimulated by reading works of Silvio Gesell, who in the early 20th century advocated demurrage-based money and communal land ownership. Some older articles I wrote during the time of studying Gesell are here:

Ripple - Money based on trust

Ripple is an open source initiative that leverages trust as a source of peer-to-peer credit and that builds on that network of trust and credit to shunt payments between users of the system.

Ryan Fugger told me about a google rippleusers group that discusses the implementation of Ripple.

As I got into reading posts and discussions on that group's list, I wa… Continue

Market vs. Gift Economy

There are two major ways in which to arrange economic interchange:

One is to give freely of what we have without a need for exchange. "Pay it forward" is a term used in this context, and the overall system and practice of giving without expecting reward has been called "the gift economy".

The other is what we call "the market", a system of production and exchange based on the idea of "tit for tat" or direct e… Continue

Can't agree more. If one says "change normal" that got to be a little more flexible - yet somehow more simle, otherwise the mission eats you up. I find it more difficult to put in practice than it is said, but there: me helping others shouldn't equal self-denial :-)
Thanks for your kind words and wisdom on this
Warmly,

Thanks, Sepp. I really don't understand how Ripples are created (read http://ripplepay.com/about/ and the FAQ) And I didn't find a listing of MERCHANTS accepting Ripples.

From the home page:
1384 users
491 accounts
705 payments

Now, I'm striving for a million users and MANY millions of transactions within a couple years.

I think the problem is that there are people who can write software and others have the VISION it takes to actually get working concepts and they don't meet.

Have you checked out the Common Good Bank? The slide show at http://commongoodbank.com/ explains what the Trado is about. The new currency is only a SMALL part of the much bigger goal of creating new jobs, businesses and "social engineering" by having members vote on special projects, grants, etc. in a truly democratic system.

WE will be the banks and WE will start controlling the money supply, the economy, the courts and the politicians. And yes, I've been told that the "CEO" would be assassinated if it worked, but that's the thinking of people who don't understand that you can't kill the ideas and "CEOs" are replaceable. Actually, it's all non profit, so there won't be a CEO, but even killing all directors would do little to kill the organization.

I tried to summarize some of the concepts at http://trado.info/about-the-trado-faq/ and additional objectives are at http://creditfactors.com/resistance/viewforum.php?f=13

In the US, people are DYING because they don't have the Dollars to pay their debts and we aren't even in a depression yet. That's why time is of essence.

I believe that I've never seen ANY option to pay with an alternative currency ANYWHERE because of the absurd idea that you can have an impact by ignoring reality, refusing to incorporate existing currencies, blatantly ignoring merchants and NOT paying people to WORK.

Initially we can start with just the Trado and inconveniencing merchants by making it VERY DIFFICULT to accept the Trado. I will accept trados, but it will have to waste time on transactions that should be fully automated. So I'm looking for software that allows for add-on modules to make it BETTER than PayPal.

BTW, while PayPal is commercial, it is entirely FREE to transfer funds and they even credit back 1.5% for using their debit M/C as credit card. The system works GREAT, they let you "float" for a few days so you can actually get to the bank to make deposits if you spent more with PayPal than you had in the account to avoid NSF fees.

I even received money transfers from Europe to my personal account with no fee. Instant + free, how can you beat that?

Obviously, I have issues with PayPal or I wouldn't advocate stealing their business. But it beats any American bank.

I think the very best proof that alternative currencies are not working is the fact that even here are the OBNOXIOUS MISLEADING AND FALSE Google advertisements. Just recently I broke down and added Google ads to my sites because I have to pay for the server and my income is way down. It BITES every time I see the ads to products and services I know to be a total FRAUD.

In fact, I'd like to see a new advertising network similar to Google ads, but only with businesses who are Trado members and excellent reputation.

That I don't see ads for alternative currencies and related products HERE really shows you that they are all failing. As soon as Trados are available and we have a logo, I'd like to see ads for the Trado here and you get T10 Trados for every new member signup.

Trado is about a LOT more than trading with friends (which I have ZERO use for), it IS about changing the world. And I didn't come up with many of these ideas, have to credit William Spademan and Richard C. Cook.

Isn't Ripple just like PayPal? I didn't see anything about an alternative currency.

Found http://project.cyclos.org/ and that seems like a good start, although no merchant interface and no "real" currency interface and no "funding" of the account through bank or credit card.

The demo looked like a very clean app and one should be able to add modules.
